Mom's party

Over 4 years ago Lauren was going to Little Gym and while she was attending there I met some wonderful families. None of our girls go there any longer but we have remained friends. We go out to dinner once every other month and we always try to celebrate the holidays together. This year was no exception. The kids had a great time decorating cookies, opening presents, doing crafts and just playing. We already made plans for next year!!

Happy Birthday Blaire!!!

Happy 13th Birthday Blaire. I can't believe you are a teenager!!! You are growing up too fast.

Cheerleading cousins

This year Lauren and her cousin, Blaire are on different cheerleading teams. This past Saturday we finally were at a competition together. Lauren's team only did an exhibition but Blaire's team was in the competition. It was fun to finally see Blaire's team this season and we were happy to see her team win. (Lauren's team did not competition because her gym was the sponsor of the event.)

Gingerbread Village

One day this week instead of doing homework and studying spelling words and math facts, Lauren and I took a break. We made a small gingerbread village instead. It was a fun way to spend the evening. (We got back to studying the next evening.)

Zoolights

My work had our Christmas party at Zoolights. I love when they do this. I then don't have to pay to get in and they have treats and hot cocoa and etc. for us. It is fun to see everyone from work with their families. Lauren and I had a great time. This year was so much fun with Lauren. She is getting older and it is fun to experience these things with her at this age. She has such wonderful comments and her reactions to some of the lights is priceless.
I love taking pictures of Lauren and I think she is a bit tired of it. Lately she has been doing a pose that drives me crazy. She watched a tv show that showed one of the characters putting her hand to her mouth in a stylish pose. So now I get that pose ALL THE TIME. See above, there are 4 pictures with this crazy pose. UGH!!!!

2nd Cheer Competition

Lauren had her second cheer competition last weekend. They did great again. In both competitions they have come in first. This is such a change from last year. Lauren can now do her back walkover, which she does in the program. I am so proud of how good she is doing.

A Very Special Birthday!!!

Tonight we celebrated Jacob's first birthday. What a miracle this birthday is. Jacob is fighter and what he has to go through with doctor appointments, treatments and the like makes this birthday so special. I think about how lucky we are that he was born when there is a treatment for Pompes. If he had been born a few years earlier we probably would not be celebrating his birthday today.

He is a little behind developmentally but it does not matter at all to us. We love this little boy and the blessings that he has brought to our lives. The fact that he is alive, not on a ventilator or a feeding tube shows that miracles still happen today. We all had such a great time celebrating this milestone in his life.
